Last Thursday, IBM came in to run a Robotics Workshop. It was great fun! The children were in mixed teams across Years 5 and 6, and together had to complete various challenges. It was a wonderful opportunity for collaboration, perseverance, creativity and problem solving. After building their robots, which included various sensors, the children got to work, writing algorithms to achieve various outcomes.
Challenge 1: Program your Robot to knock over skittles.
Challenge 2: Program a dance sequence for a Robot dance off.
You can see how the groups got on below. There was a real buzz in the room as all the children found different, inventive ways of completing their challenges, whilst also growing in their computational thinking skills. We are all really grateful to Clare Mortimer and the IBM volunteers who came in for the day. They did such a great job inspiring us and helping us on our learning journey.
