Mathemagician!

Written by Year 5

In March, a maths magician called Andrew Jeffrey came to our school and performed some amazing magic tricks.
One of the tricks was that he picked a three digit number and then added it to another three digit number which was the same number but backwards. Before all of this he had written a prediction on the number that he would get after adding. Amazingly the prediction was correct and everyone was impressed!

Andrew’s childhood

When he was a little boy, Andrew thought he was not as smart as everyone else and thought he was way behind but when he realized that he could make patterns( in numbers)he showed everyone how. Andrew made a lot of tricks to learn how to do every bit of maths he needed to learn, like when he wrote his nine times tables he wrote 0-9 down vertically on his page and then up the other way on his page and automatically he had done all nine of his nine times tables.

Fun facts

  • He went to the same school as Mr Watson-Lowries and at a different time.
  • He invented a way to do your seven times table.
  • He made a twenty pound note into a million dollar note
  • He made a student pick a card and then he had to try to get that particular one with loads of shuffling and he got it correct.
  • He was taught by Mr Watson-Lowries’ dad!
