The eco-council is getting off to a great start, reading 6 books that they are judging for The Royal Society’s Young People’s Book Prize.
The aim of the prize is to promote the best science writers for this audience and encourage young people to read science books. So far, the judges have been wowed by the illustrations in most of the books, have enjoyed the creative comic-style information in The Wild Life of Dinosaurs and have found new fascinating facts. They have been critical of aspects of each book too, Jacob wrote about The Animal Body Book for example that ‘This book reads like a textbook, it is rather boring.’
As we discuss the books we are also rating them for their ease of reading, interest, the look and feel and how inspiring we find them. Keep your eyes peeled for further updates and our final recommendation.
