Keeping It Cool: Investigating Insulators

In year 5 and 6 science we have been looking at the properties of materials and ways in which we can change them.
As we discussed the differences between dissolving and melting we asked the question, ‘which materials are the best insulators?’. Each group decided on their own method for testing a range of materials to see which kept the ice cube the coldest temperature. It was lovely to see each group confidently plan their investigation, gather equipment, draw effective tables of results and later evaluate their enquiries. It was a wonderful way for the children to see how far they have come as scientists at London Christian School.
