In years 3 and 4 we have been studying sound. We asked the question, ‘Does distance affect the volume of the sound?’ and took to the playground on the hottest day of the year! Needless to say, we were not out there for long, but had a great opportunity to use sound meters to record the decibels of a noise close up and at an increasing distance. The pupils wrote their results in a table and drew fantastic graphs based on their results.
