How we got there: (by Ethaan)
On Thursday 9th of October we set off to go to the British library.  Before we set off we went to the toilets and got ready. We got into our partners and groups to begin our journey to the British Library. We started our journey by going to Borough station and hopping onto the northern line. We got off the northern line at Kings Cross St. Pancras. From there we walked to the library.
When we got there: (by Aria)
As we arrived at the Library we took our bags off our backs and placed them all in lockers so we didn’t have to carry them all as we walked. When Year 5 and 6 walked in we were instantly stunned by the scale of it all. The walls were all made of white stone and the floor decorated in red tiles. Our guides called Arya and Debbie were really kind and energetic to welcome us quickly but not waste any time . We separated into 2 groups (year 5 and 6 ) and set off with each of our guides. Year 5 got Arya as their guide and Year 6 got Debbie . (Don’t worry – in  the workshop we introduced ourselves!)
What we did there: (by Evelyn)
At the workshop we were greeted by 2 smiling women and the years were separated into 2 groups. After all the sights from before like King George’s private collection of old, leather-bound books we were already excited. We were led into a room full of chairs – and two mysterious maps. After some discussion on what research was and why we needed it and how to do it, we were told to inspect the maps. They were both copies of an old map – how old we didn’t know yet and it was labelled: ‘The Mappe of Fairies.’ It was beautifully illustrated and made of three islands each with different colours and full of fairytales, myths, legends and famous stories. Beauty and The Beast abided near a little village while the four winds lay beyond the mountains of giants. We all decided in groups what our research question should be and then moved downstairs for a quick break to look at all of the artefacts in the ‘Gallery of Treasures.’
The ‘Gallery of Treasures’ was incredible, containing priceless artifacts such as the Magna Carta and the first ever bible translated into English!
Once back in the research room we continued with our projects and each group reserved a box full of evidence. Using evidence from books, newspapers and other items, we researched and answered our personal questions about the map.
The trip was really exciting and everyone agreed that it was incredibly fun!
