Day 1
On Monday the 9th March 2026, we arrived at school at 5am. Everybody handed in their passport and their G-HIC card. Then you would give your luggage to the coach driver, who would put your luggage in the hold of the coach. At 6am we got on the coach for around 1-2 hours to go to Dover. It was really foggy there, you could only see 2-3 metres ahead.Then we went through passport control and onto the ferry. The ride was smooth, with no big waves. We went onto deck but it was quite cold and windy, so we went inside very soon! After 2 hours we arrived in Calais and the sun was shining fiercely. The ride from Calais to Chateau de’Ebblinghem continued with no problem. We stopped off at a biscuit factory and lots of us used our French to buy something to take home. When we got there we found our rooms and devoured a marvellous dinner.
Day 2
On the second day, we first had a breakfast of hot chocolate and pastries. Afterwards, we travelled by coach to Belgium and visited a church. Then we visited a museum about the World Wars and later we visited a battlefield. It was amazing to see how close the British and German front lines were. Then we went on a coach tour around German and a Belgian cemeteries. In the evening we had a campfire–it was such fun! We sang lots of songs and toasted marshmallows – yum!
