Helpful Information

Contact list

A contact list for our parent community is put together to facilitate communication and out-of-school contact. If you need to update your details, please contact the school office.

Spelling

We have provided a variety of fun ways to help with learning to spell.  Please explore the ideas here with your child.  Thanks for your support in helping the children become confident, accurate spellers!

Packed Lunches

Pupils should bring a packed lunch in each day to provide a healthy selection for lunch times and snack times. If your child stays for an after school club, please pack an extra snack for them to have in the afternoon. Please do not send any glass containers in. If you would like to send hot food in for your child please use a secure heatproof container and provide cutlery.

Nut free School

Please note that there are several children in the school who are allergic to nuts, and as such we ask you not to include any form of nuts or nut based products in your child’s packed lunch. This includes chocolate spreads such as Nutella, and nuts such as pine nuts (including in pesto).

Book bags and pencils

You will be issued a book bag for your child when they start school. Replacement book bags can be purchased from the school office at a cost of £5. The most helpful pencil to use for learning the correct pencil grip are triangular pencils. You may like your child to use a triangular pencil at home. If so you can buy these from the school office for 50p each.

Lost property

If your child has misplaced any items in school, please check the lost property boxes in the Junior Library and in the downstairs cloakroom. Please notify your child’s classroom teacher via the communication book if you still cannot find the item. We ask that all parents ensure that all their child’s belongings are clearly labelled.

Birthday books

To celebrate each birthday we suggest that children might like to bring their favourite book to school, to share with other pupils. This book then becomes part of the school library, having been marked with a special label which has the child’s name and the birthday that it commemorates.

Scooters

Due to the growing number of children who scooter to school we strongly encourage parents to take scooters home rather than leaving them at school during the day. Older children should store their scooters in the outdoor storage sheds.

Parking and vehicle access

There is limited parking outside the school. If you are arriving by car please park in one of the loading bays on Tabard Street and in the immediate area which allow for 20 minute stays. For longer stays there is some pay and display parking on Tabard Street and Great Dover Street as well as the NCP multi-storey car park on Snowsfields, the other side of Long Lane south of Guys Hospital. There are excellent public transport links near the school including Borough tube station, London Bridge Station and various local bus services. Please see www.tfl.gov.uk for more information.

Individual music tuition

Individual music tuition is currently available for piano, violin, viola, flute, clarinet and saxophone. Lessons are available to those in years 1-6 only. Please contact the school office for more information.
