Sound Out!

Two musical events took place in the last week of Spring Term. On Tuesday, we had a guest speaker at our music assembly; conductor, composer and arranger Michael Andrews. He shared about his experience conducting an orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, and told us a little bit about how conducting works and how a concert is organised. He was a very engaging speaker, and we enjoyed being conducted as we sang.

On Wednesday 17 April, Year 6 attended the Sound Out concert at the Royal Festival Hall.  We heard an ensemble play a range of contemporary classical music. Thomas and Max had their work displayed in the concert hall, and Diiya had the wonderful privilege of having her piece interpreted and performed by the professional musicians in front of an audience of a couple of thousand. After the performance, Diiya was asked to stand and received a round of applause. It was an unforgettable experience. A video of the concert will be available online in the near future.
